01 / Overview
The GPS-equipped variant of the W40 — the built-in module controls the motor (steering, throttle, position) accurate to 1 m, so the boat tracks exactly where it is planned to go. Matched to the Haswing Fishing Kayak G, and also compatible with standard and UK-spec kayaks.
A 10-step digital maximizer saves battery and extends runtime up to 5×. The redesigned remote (3×AAA, batteries not included) adds anchor mode, heading hold and waypoint marking — the motor rotates a full 360°.
A real-time battery voltage display, and a 2-blade Ø 19.3cm prop running at 1500 rpm with a skeg guard against bottom strikes. Usable in fresh or salt water.

Which battery fits the W40-GPS?+
The recommended battery is min. 80 Ah Gel / Li-ion 3S / LiFePO4 4S. For a precise runtime estimate at a given capacity, use the battery calculator.
Which fuse should I use?+
This motor draws up to ~40 A at full throttle, so the recommended fuse rating is 50 A (AGU-type or resettable) — in practice, round up to the nearest size available.
Can the shaft be fitted to my boat?+
For the general sizing rule (transom or gunwale height → shaft length) see the sizing table on this page — Haswing motors also offer depth adjustment along the full shaft length, so a small mismatch is rarely a dealbreaker.
Does the motor run in salt water?+
Yes — the entire Haswing range runs in both fresh and salt water. After a season in salt water, rinse the shaft and prop with fresh water.
How do the GPS anchor and Helmsman app work?+
The GPS anchor holds the boat on a chosen spot to within about one metre regardless of wind and current, and heading hold keeps it tracking a set direction. The free Helmsman app (Android/iOS) adds route waypoints, track recording and a full-speed mode — the motor also runs entirely from the remote, no phone required.
